JJ Adams' artistic journey began in a vibrant family, where he was the son of a Baptist preacher. As a child, he moved from Plymouth in the UK to Cape Town, South Africa, in the early 1980s. It was during his youth, spent around the studio of South African contemporary landscape artist Derric van Rensburg, that JJ Adams discovered his love for vibrant colours and graphic art. This early exposure ignited a passion that would shape his artistic trajectory.

Studying graphic design at Cape College, JJ Adams simultaneously honed his skills as an apprentice at "Wildfire Tattoos," a bustling tattoo studio in central Cape Town. In 1998, he returned to the UK, where he pursued further studies in commercial printing at the Plymouth College of Art and Design. Throughout his journey, JJ worked as a freelance graphic designer and sign maker before finally delving into the world of fine art.

In his art, JJ Adams boldly embraces a diverse range of media, showcasing his mastery of spray paint, hand-painted acrylics, screen printing, collage, digital matte painting, and photography.
